Open Source Software is often heralded as a friendly community all working happily together for a common good. In reality many successful projects start as a such a labour of love, but as they grow in popularity things can quickly get out of hand while other people build businesses upon your voluntary work.

Facebook as a company has become a major influence in lives of millions of developers. At first thought Facebook is the company which provides unstable APIs and annoying sharing widgets. But the work done by the Open Sourcing of internal products is changing this.
I wrote about legacy and developers earlier today. I accidentally ended up having this pairing of words on there: Corporate Legacy
That's a pair that devs loathe by nature, but it made me think. Where was I coming from and what kind of legacy have I left? In this short time scale technology evolves, but humans don't. Certain patterns repeat.
